Hill continued writing and experienced a turning point in 1908, due to an assignment to interview Andrew Carnegie. This wasn’t enough so he had to withdraw.
He used the earnings he received to enter Law school ( Georgetown University). When he was 13 years old (1896), Napoleon Hill started writing for his father’s Paper. In 1915, he founded the George Washington Institute of Advertising, where he began teaching principles of success and self-confidence. This time he went to Chicago and accepted a job at la Salle Extension University. He subsequently moved to the town of his wife’s family, Lumberport in West Virginia.Ī little while later he moved again. In 1910, he married Florence Elizabeth Horner, with whom he had three sons.
The school closed its doors that same year. This course also received negative coverage in the news: he was accused of scamming and was called a joke on anyone of average intelligence. Here he worked with students to develop, build and sell cars. Two years later, he launched the Automobile College of Washington. The company faced bankruptcy and was also accused of fraud for buying lumber outside of Mobile and selling it below market value. He founded Acree-Hill Lumber Company with his business partner. In 1907 Napoleon moved to Mobile, Alabama. He did not stay long at this position: he enrolled in law school, but had to withdraw from it early due to lack of funds. Richard Lingeman, author, wrote that Napoleon got this job because he knew and kept quiet about the death of a black bellhop at the mine, who had been accidentally shot during a drunken stupor. He began a business education and later got a job with coal magnate and Attorney General Rufus A. When Napoleon was seventeen, his time in high school ended, upon which he moved to Tazewell, also in Virginia. The girl later retracted the statement and the marriage between the two was annulled. When Napoleon was fifteen years old, he was forced to marry a girl who accused him of having processed a child with her. She is said to have been a good influence on young Napoleon: he kept attending school and church. Two years later, his father met his new wife, Martha.
